The CZMU is celebrating 40 years in existance as an entity of the Government of Barbados in 2023. To mark the occasion the Unit will be undertaking several activities throughout the year both for internal staff and external participants. Please see the calendar of events below:
Director of the Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU) Dr. Leo Brewster encourages all Barbadians to read the draft updated Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) Plan. The Plan takes the form of two volumes: the Barbados Policy Framework and the Barbados ICZM Plan.
The draft updated Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) Plan is centre stage this month as the Public Enquiry for stakeholders and the wider public to share their views on the Plan continues.

The CZMU has erected billboards at several important recreational and cultural sites along the coast of Barbados to build awareness for the upcoming Public Consultation Meetings for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan (2020-2030). The CZMU has recently concluded the scientific, technical and internal review process for the updating of the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Plan for Barbados. We are now seeking the public's feedback on the draft ICZM Plan through several consultative activities, which will inform and amend the Plan prior to its finalization and establishment by the Minister of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy.
