The Town and Country Development Planning Office (TCDPO) is the sole government agency responsible for processing all planning applications in Barbados and granting permission for these applications. For some applications, technical expertise not available at the TCDPO is required in order to make an informed and just assessment. Hence the applications may be referred by the TCDPO to the appropriate government department(s) for technical recommendations.
The Coastal Zone Management Unit (CZMU) is one such department to which applications may be referred. Applications are referred to the CZMU when the site chosen for development falls within the coastal zone management area.
Over the years, numerous queries have been received by the CZMU, from the public, about planning applications. Many persons inquire as to whether applications have as yet been referred to the CZMU, and if so, have the applications been processed and returned to the TCDPO. With this in mind, the CZMU has posted on this website a search engine under called Town Planning Applications Status under Related Information on this page. This search engine allows applicants to use their Town and Country Planning application number to view the status of their planning application. The applicant will either see Received by the CZMU and Returned to Town Planning or Received by the CZMU and Pending Assessment .
Please note, however, that the database for this search engine is updated on a monthly basis and the status of applications for this month may have not as yet been entered into the database. Also, applications not seen may have been returned to the TCDPO prior to the period which the database covers.
